Quad Ethernet Controller PMC from Technobox Supports Four 10/100 Ports for Embedded Systems

Lumberton, New Jersey — Technobox a leading manufacturer of PCI Mezzanine Cards (PMC), Tools and Adapters, is now marketing one of its newest PMC designs, the Quad 10/100-TX Mb/s Ethernet Adapter with Front Panel I/O (P/N 4435). The 4435 supports four Ethernet connections over twisted pair media. Built around Intel 82551ER Ethernet controllers that provide an integrated media access controller (MAC) and physical layer (PHY), the 4435 offers full-duplex operation at 10 Mb/s or 100 Mb/s speeds. Connection to the 32-bit, 66 MHz PCI bus is through a PLX 6150B bridge, allowing each 82551ER controller to appear as an independent controller on the primary side of the bridge. Transformer based electrical isolation is provided between the 82551ER controllers and the four corresponding RJ 45 front panel connectors.
