MDA SEEKS BARS AND RESTAURANTS FOR CHARITY “BATTLE OF THE BARS”

EAST QUOQUE- The Long Island office of the Muscular Dystrophy Association is seeking additional area bars and restaurants to participate in the 2006 Battle of the Bars to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Teams will compete against other bars and restaurants for first place by participating in Olympic-themed events, including tug-of-war and a hula-hoop competition.

The 2006 Battle of the Bars will take place on Wednesday, July 26 (rain date August 2). Registration begins at 12:00 noon.

The competition will be hosted by Neptune Beach Club, 70 Dune Rd in East Quogue. Clare Rose will donate beer and t-shirts for all participants as well as trophies for the winners.

Funds raised in the Battle of the Bars will be donated to the Suffolk County office of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, directly affecting the lives of people from Long Island living with one of the more than 40 neuromuscular diseases in MDA’s program. The Battle of the Bars will support MDA’s annual summer camp in Spring Valley, which will welcome 75 kids with neuromuscular diseases from all across the Tri-State area in August 2006, at no charge to their families.

Each participating team must raise $600, the cost to send a child from Suffolk County to MDA Summer Camp. Bars and restaurants interested in participating should send the name of the bar/restaurant, along with the name of a contact person, mailing address, fax and phone numbers to:
