During the Internet marketing research for reciprocal link exchange tool by the Internet marketing department of DesktopMoney Ltd a poll on reputable Google discussion forum was launched, and poll results show that up to two thirds of loyal Google users can quit using its service. On June 19, 2006 on WebProWorld forum (#2 position in Google for 'google discussion forum' keyphrase) was started the poll asking forum members the alternative question:
With recent Google's search behaviour will you…
(a) Continue using Google?
(b) Switch to Yahoo?
(c) Switch to MSN?
(d) Switch to Yahoo and MSN?
(e) Use big G, Yahoo and MSN together for better quality?
After 7 days poll running on the forum, the poll thread got 2,300+ views, 80+ replies and 75 forum members who actively voted on one of the poll options.
The full poll results dated June 26, 2006 show that:
(a) 33%
(b) 12%
(c) 9%
(d) 16%
(e) 29%
The results of the poll showed that Google can lose a big share of its most loyal users, those who preferably use Google, if this search engine does not manage to settle all Big Daddy and other improvements as soon as possible, providing new level of search results.
33% of the voted agreed to continue using Google with its current level of search results. Other people used the alternative of using Yahoo and/or MSN, or three majors together. As three major include also Google, we can extract a pure one third of users who will quit doing searches with Google.
Remark should be made that WebProWorld forum is the place where specific, niche Internet users dwell, mostly including webmasters, site owners who seek for promotional help, Internet marketers, programmers, designers and other users who are actively interested in learning more information about search engines, marketing, site design, e-commerce, IT. That is why the result of the poll cannot represent global average response of all Internet users.
