WPO Member Receives Mary Lehman MacLachlan Award
Judy Flynn Earns Prestigious Award For Entrepreneurial Excellence

NEW YORK – Marsha Firestone, Ph.D., president of the Women Presidents’ Organization (WPO), has announced that Judy Flynn, WPO Middlesex County Chapter member and president of KEVCO Electric, Inc. has received the Mary Lehman MacLachlan Award. The award recognizes women who exemplify the outstanding qualities of Mary Lehman MacLachlan and have demonstrated leadership, ownership and economic independence in their professional career. Mary’s daughter, Kate Lehman, was in attendance at the awards ceremony in her mother’s honor.

Mary Lehman MacLachlan was the original benefactor of the WPO who shared the vision, passion and drive to support women in business. Mary was an esteemed WPO advisory board member and a true leader in the women’s business community where she was a strong supporter of women entrepreneurs. She believed that women must be economically independent and support themselves. As Mary best stated herself, “I really care about women in positions of leadership and ownership. Now is the time for women to claim their rightful place as capitalists in the greatest capitalist county in the world. And, in this effort, women need to support other women because if they do not, no one else will.”

The following criteria were established for this award in Mary Lehman MacLachlan’s memory:

· The applicant must be a WPO member in good standing
· The applicant must be economically independent
· The applicant’s business must reflect entrepreneurial growth
· The applicant’s business must have financial benefits for her staff
· The applicant must demonstrate leadership and support of other businesswomen in her community

“It is an absolute pleasure to award Judy Flynn this honor in Mary Lehman’s name,” said Firestone. “Like Mary, Judy is a powerful force and a great role model for women in business at any level.”
