SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. – Interbike, organizer of North America’s leading bicycle industry trade show, is inviting attendees and exhibitors to share their most memorable experiences, celebrity sightings or product launches through its blog, www.interbiketimes.com, to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The blog is part of Interbike’s goal to bring some nostalgia to this, its 25th annual bike show. In addition to memories submitted via the blog, Interbike is also collecting attendees’ and exhibitors’ favorite historical products and swag from the last 25 years of Interbike for use in a special 25th anniversary space at the 2006 Interbike International Expo.
Interbike means many things to many people, and Interbike would like to help share those memories with the cycling industry in celebration of its 25th year.
“Interbike has held a bicycle expo every year for the last 25 years, and we want to organize a compilation of the things people remember most,” says Camisasca. “I first attended Interbike as a store manager for Two Wheel Transit Authority in ‘83. Oddly enough, it was in Las Vegas that year, and I was blown away. I was in awe when I saw all the exhibitors, products and especially all the industry gurus whom I had read about that were there.”
Interbike expos have been the place of many memorable moments, some famous and some infamous. For example, the Alex Pong bike launch, Lance Armstrong signing autographs, John Burke signing a large check for advocacy and the Schwinn Elvis parade, just to name a few.
“We want to encourage people to share their stories,” says Camisasca. “Ultimately we’re looking for what attendees, exhibitors and media felt was the best product launch, favorite meeting with a pro racer, memorable conversation with a retailer or exhibitor, ground breaking advocacy moment or anything they feel was memorable or significant to them.”
Written submissions or blog posts received before July 1, 2006 will be considered for use in the guide. All written, historical products and swag submissions received from now until August 18, 2006, will be considered for display in the 25th anniversary Interbike space. To submit actual products and swag please contact Rich Kelly at rkelly@vnuexpo.com.
