BELDEN BRILLIANCE® BANANA PEEL® PRECISION VIDEO SNAKE CABLES OFFER SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE, PLUS FASTER, EASIER INSTALLATION

June 22, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
RICHMOND, IN – Belden CDT Electronics Division, a world leader in the development of specialty cable products for the broadcast, A/V, entertainment and other markets, has announced that it is now offering multiples of its highly popular Brilliance 1855A and 1505A Precision Video coaxial cables in Belden’s patented Banana Peel® construction. The new composite cables provide optimum signal transmission performance over longer runs, while enabling faster and easier installation of multiple coaxes in a single, easy-to-pull bundle.

Thanks to their Banana Peel construction, the new composite cables will reduce labor costs because the overall jacket has been eliminated. Without the outer jacket, an entire step in the installation process has been eliminated and all of the cables are instantly identifiable since the cables are color-coded and have clearly readable print legends. Installers simply peel the individual cables off the center spline and they are ready to terminate. In addition, with no overall jacket, the cables have a smaller OD and an improved bend radius, making it possible to use a smaller size conduit.

Belden’s 1855A and 1505A Banana Peel Precision Video Snake cables are available in bundles of 3, 5, and 6. 1855A is the SDI and HDTV standard for Mini RG-59/U Type cable; 1505A is the SDI and HDTV standard for RG-59/U Type. These CMR-rated cables are also pre-timed to ensure a delay difference of less than 5.0ns/100 feet between coaxes, allowing for “cut-and-connect” installation with no TDR or Vectorscope timing required.

The new Banana Peel composite video cables are ideal for use in demanding A/V applications, including: serial digital video (SDI), component video, unbalance mode analog or digital audio (AES/EBU), computer CAD/CAM, high-end computer graphics and animation and live video production in the studio or in the field. The cables are also well suited to a host of commercial A/V applications, such as high-resolution monitors and projection imaging in corporate boardrooms, command and control centers, teleconferencing centers, performance venues, post-production facilities, auditoriums, houses of worship, and high-end home theater systems.

Sweep Testing to 4.5 GHz Ensures Exceptional Return Loss Performance

The new Banana Peel coaxial cables are 100% sweep tested to 4.5 GHz to cover the third harmonic frequency of 1080p and to ensure best-in-class Return Loss performance. Belden is the only cable manufacturer that has extended its testing to 4.5 GHz, assuring broadcasters and leading-edge broadcast equipment manufacturers of high performance and reliability as they migrate from the existing 1080i (interlaced) HD format to the emerging 1080p (progressive) format.

In the 1080i format, the image resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels, sent at 60 interlaced frames per second. In the 1080p format, the image resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels, sent at 60 complete frames per second. Thus, in the interlaced format, only half the image updates every 1/60th of a second, whereas, in the higher frequency progressive format, the entire image updates every 1/60th of a second, resulting in a picture that is crisper and clearer, with better image quality and definition — especially when objects in the picture are in motion.
