Sonoma County Sol Host First Round of Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

The Sonoma County Sol Futbol Club ( http://www.scfcsol.com ) is proud to host a first round match of the Lamar Hunt Open Cup, with the Sol men's team taking on the Ogden Outlaws (Utah) of the Premier Development League. The game will take place Wednesday June 14 at 8:00pm at Santa Rosa High School in Santa Rosa, California (under the lights at Ernie Nevers Field). Free parking is available around the high school and Santa Rosa Junior College campuses.

The game is open to the public. Admission is $7 per adult, $3 per child aged 7 to 17 and free to children 6 and younger.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the oldest team cup competition in the United States, in its 92nd year. It brings amateur and professional soccer teams, including teams from Major League Soccer, together in one competition.

The winner of the Sol versus Outlaws matchup will travel to play the professional team Charleston Battery in Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston plays in the USL First Division, only one level below Major League Soccer.

The Open Cup is organized by the United States Soccer Federation ( ussoccer.com ).

Many of the Sol players are from the Sonoma County area and/or played NCAA college soccer in the area. The level of play is excellent, comparable to NCAA Division I soccer.

Food, snacks and beverages will be available at the field. (Alcohol is not allowed.) Authentic Sol merchandise will be available for sale.

The Sonoma County Sol is a non-profit community organization which brings the best soccer to the northern San Francisco Bay Area. The Sol is sponsored by local businesses and individuals, and was founded in 2003. The Sol's website is http://www.scfcsol.com
