Cascade Asset Management (Cascade) of Madison, Wisconsin was recognized as the first computer and electronic equipment recycler to be certified under the new 2006 international standard for Electronics Recycler Certification developed by the International Association of Electronics Recyclers (IAER). The IAER Certification Standard is a comprehensive set of requirements that reflect what concerned customers would expect of qualified suppliers. The IAER developed and implemented the first and only certification process designed exclusively to conduct third party audits of electronics recycling facilities to achieve the designation of Certified Electronics Recycler®. The IAER established a formal process to certify electronics recyclers to support and promote high standards of environmental quality and regulatory compliance as well as high quality business practices in the electronics recycling industry; to serve the needs of customers and stakeholders to identify electronics recyclers that meet their requirements for reputable service providers; and, to provide an objective third party auditing process against a recognized industry standard.
Cascade was evaluated on best practices related to environmental management systems, quality programs, business performance and financial stability, employee health and safety programs, security systems, and operations management.
The audit was performed by an independent third party organization, Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI). BVQI is a world leader in registration to international quality and environmental standards. Their team of over 2600 auditors is recognized by 30 accreditation bodies and has issued over 70,000 certificates in more than 70 countries.
Cascade Asset Management has provided full service, safe and sound technology asset retirement solutions since 1999. “We are thrilled to earn the Certified Electronics Recycler registration with IAER,” said Neil Peters-Michaud, CEO of Cascade. “It demonstrates not only our commitment to best practices in the industry, but our entire organization’s demonstrated ability to perform to these stated practices.”
“Cascade Asset Management once again has shown leadership by becoming a Certified Electronics Recycler ™. The electronics recycling industry is still fragmented with a wide array of services. Cascade Asset Management has proven they are committed to being among the best in this industry,” said Peter Muscanelli, President of the IAER.
