Attendance At First Carolina Crossroads Event Surpasses 24,000
Top Country Music Artists Perform
At Roanoke Rapids Outdoor Summer Concert
ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. – Carolina Crossroads held its first major concert event on June 3, introducing the area as a premier music and entertainment district. More than 24,000 fans joined the festivities, along with country music artists Big & Rich with Cowboy Troy, Academy of Country Music New Male Vocalist award winner Jason Aldean, rising country music artist Danielle Peck, and local favorite, Southern Draw.
Proceeds from the event totaling approximately $1 million, will benefit Children’s Miracle Network affiliated hospitals, University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina’s Children’s Hospital in Greenville, and Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham.
The June 3 concert was the first in a series of “Randy Parton and Carolina Crossroads Present” concerts leading up the Spring 2007 grand opening of the Randy Parton Theater, which will feature a 35,000 square foot, 1,500-seat amphitheater.
“The weather was perfect; the performances were unbelievable and the entire event truly was a huge success,” said Randy Parton, managing member of Moonlight Bandit Productions, LLC.
“I am pleased with how successful our first event was,” said Michael Dunlow, president of Carolina Crossroads. “The future of Carolina Crossroads as a premier music and entertainment district was quite evident.”
Carolina Crossroads will continue to hold future events including a September 23 concert featuring Hank Williams, Jr. and Gretchen Wilson. Concert tickets will be available at www.carolinacrossroads.com.
