Optitex launches comprehensive solution for computer-aided garment design and visualization on virtual models

PETACH TIKVA, Israel, June 16, 2006 - OptiTex, a leading provider of software for the fashion and textile industries, announced a comprehensive industrial solution for the production and evaluation of customized garments. The solution allows to simulate the look of the finished garment, including the fall of the fabric, with the help of virtual models, as well as to design virtual catwalks by means of immediate, intuitive interface. The solution was debuted at the mega textile exhibition IMB in Köln, Germany. A clip demonstrating the system is available on OptiTex's website.

The new OptiTex system, which integrates the different OptiTex modules into a unique solution, is designed to shorten the garment production cycle, simplify processes and minimize production costs. It consists of four key elements: A CAD (Computer-aided Design) for pattern design; Modulate Made-to-Measure, a parameter-based modeling tool which enables the customization of basic patterns to varying parameters; 3D Runway – a virtual "try it on" system that simulates the worn garments on three-dimensional mannequins according to user defined parameters and an animation engine which allows the creation of virtual catwalks and motion sequences for the dressed virtual models.

The use of these elements in an industrial production environment solves a host of problems even before they become such. For example, it is possible to fit the garment before the prototype is cut or sewn and then modify the patterns accordingly. It is also possible to use a three-dimensional scanner that reads human measurements by means of innovative scanning technology so as to create three-dimensional mannequins that can be dressed. This leaves very little room for human errors and shortens the time from design to production. The animation technology allows visualizing how the garment will look and react when worn by the virtual models in a dynamic environment.

"Time to market plays an increasingly important role in the fast-changing ready-to-wear industry. This makes OptiTex' advanced solutions a necessity so to survive in today's market," said Ran Machtinger, CEO of OptiTex. "In addition to providing an excellent tool for precise design of production process, the new solution is an effective marketing and sales aid to the various departments" he added.
