Dealers Get Sneak Peak of New ELAN V883 Component Video Switcher at Tech Week
June 08, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Lexington, KY — ELAN® Home Systems, a leading manufacturer of award-winning Multi-Room audio/video and home control systems, debuted the company’s eagerly anticipated V883 component video switcher at its inaugural ELAN Tech Week conference. The V883 can independently route up to 8 component video sources to 8 TVs/monitors over long distances. Held from May 14 through 18, 2006, Tech Week is the industry’s most intensive technical training event specifically designed and produced for ELAN Installers. The announcement was made by Bob Farinelli, ELAN’s President and Chief Technology Officer. Featuring eight sets of component video inputs and outputs, the V883 lets users stream all of their component video sources, such as DVD, DVR, satellite TV and more, independently to up to eight different TVs and/or monitors in as many rooms. The V883’s unity gain design and high definition chip set ensures that whatever content is piped into the V883 is delivered to its viewing destination with the exact same quality generated at its source. The V883 also distributes standard composite video from non-component sources such as CCTV cameras and VCRs.
“Tech Week attendees seemed excited to be the first to see our brand new V883 and we were pleased with the positive feedback we received from such a technology savvy group,” stated Mr. Farinelli. “We recognized that a really good affordable eight by eight component video solution did not exist in the marketplace. At half the price of others, it appears we've filled this void and hit the custom mark head on with V883’s bigger source, location, and distance capabilities.”
The V883 can use standard RG-6 coaxial cable to send component video signals to TVs or monitors up to 300 feet away. With the addition of an ELAN Component Video Wall Plate (CVWP), component video can be sent up to 500 feet over Cat-5 data/communication cable. This creates the ultimate flexibility for the custom installer, while not burdening the cost of every unit they sell. Regardless of the configuration, the V883’s zero-loss design means the best possible picture even over long distances.
Controllable via RS-232 or IR, the V883 integrates seamlessly with any whole-house system, allowing users one-touch access to all their video sources from any touch panel, keypad or remote control. In an ELAN multi-room system, all of the V883’s control commands reside in ELAN’s system setup software and can be automatically built into the system’s programming, making it a breeze to configure even the most complex component video switching routines. Up to four V883 units can be linked together to provide an 8-source by 32-TV/monitor component video switching matrix.
The V883 is scheduled to ship during Q4 2006 and will be available through ELAN Dealers at an unmatched MSRP of $2,200.
An oversold and overwhelmingly successful event, ELAN’s Tech Week brought more than 230 of the country’s top ELAN Dealer Technicians/Installers together to further hone their skills and knowledge through hands-on participation and intensive classroom ELAN training. Tech Week offered ELAN attendees the opportunity to share product and installation knowledge through a variety of educational and informative forums and activities. Attendees also benefited from the opportunity to interface with Tech Week Headline Sponsors Lutron Electronics and Middle Atlantic Products, as well as with Tech Week VIP Sponsor Aprilaire.
