Second Annual RFID China Summit 05 Features Roster of Leading Technology Vendors
January 25, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
January 24, 2005, Shanghai, China - The China Supply Chain Council (CSCC), a leading professional organization announced today the conference agenda and speaker lineup for the Second China RFID China Summit, to be held on March 10, in Shanghai, China. China-based suppliers to Wal-Mart and other key retailers that outsource manufacturing to China have many reasons to want to see China settle on RFID protocol and bandwidth standards. But the need for RFID in China to track and trace product through the supply chain is real. China is host to some of the world's busiest ports, and analysts see the use of active RFID tags on shipment containers, combined with passive tags on the pallets/boxes, helping with everything from preventing loss or theft of containers to complying with U.S. security mandates.
The 2005 event will focus on Practical, Real-World RFID Solutions. It will be an essential event for end-users who wants realistic answers to questions about RFID technologies so that they can accurately evaluate vendors, create a feasible business case, plan and launch pilot projects in China.
Leading speakers across a variety of industries will provide actionable advice and insights into the near-term future of RFID, as well as long-term outlook for the China market. Confirmed presentations and speakers include:
- ROI on RFID, Tony Cotterell, Principal Shanghai, Deloitte.
- RFID Reality Check - Benefits are in the Data (not the radio signal), Mark H. Hathaway, President, Leading Information Technology Institute (Liti).
- Application of RFID in Esquel’s China Spinning Operations, Roger Sanderson, Group Director, Supply Chain Management, Esquel Enterprises Limited.
- RFID Beyond the Hype: Real World Lessons from Actual Implementations, Charles Rice, Vice President of Technology, R4 Global Solutions.
- RFID: An Enabling Technology in Transportation and Logistics, George Cavage, Director Technology Solutions & Strategy, NOL Group (APL Ltd. and APL Logistics).
- Effective RFID Portal Design: Lessons Learned, Steve Hall, Vice President, Sales & Marketing for SAMSys Technologies.
- How to Leverage Passive UHF RFID Technology for Competitive Advantage, John C. Shoemaker, Vice President, Symbol Technologies, RFID Division.
- Defining your RFID strategy. Lessons learned from early RFID adopters, Mark Skipper, President, MARC Global Asia Pacific.
“Between 50% and 70% of nonfood products shipped to Wal-Mart are made in China. As the retailer deploys passive RFID technology in more distribution centers and stores, some of its suppliers are increasingly eager to take advantage of efficiencies and lower costs that could come from tagging pallets and cases directly in China. So this conference will offer them valuable information and guidance on the best solutions and expertise available here" added Max Henry, CSCC Founder & Executive Director.
