Simple Traditions Strengthen Family Ties Nationwide
Following the events of September 11, researchers saw a resurgence of American families seeking opportunities to grow closer and stronger. But how do busy families bond when time is such a fleeting commodity? That is exactly the question that Jessica Harvey answers as an Independent Consultant for Once Upon A Family (www.StartATradition.com). Harvey is determined to provide families with simple, meaningful ways to connect with each other. “We all have wonderful intentions of doing wonderful activities with our loved ones,” Harvey says. “But in reality we get caught up in what we ‘have to do’, and what we want to do gets pushed aside.”
By offering a mix of unique ideas and heirloom-quality products, Harvey motivates women to move beyond overwhelming myths they have about family time. “Women can fall into the guilt trap and think about all the things they’re not doing. They become overwhelmed. It’s a shame,” she continues, “because really what our friends and families want from us is our time.” At a recent home gathering, guests shared stories of traditions from their own families. “What I share are simple ways to celebrate everyday.”
When asked to describe what most inspires about this new endeavor, Harvey responds, “It goes beyond selling a product; Once Upon a Family equips women who want tools for becoming the best that they can be. There are so many of us who want to capitalize on the time we spend with our families and friends.” The presentation Harvey shares is a reflective one, providing simple ideas and introducing products such as Dear Sweet Child Letter Box and the Family Tree Poster.
“As women begin to understand the need to be proactive in doing things that will bring about the desired changes in their family, there is a renewal of love and commitment in their hearts.” She passionately continues, “I want these women to leave feeling empowered. I want them to be able to walk away with ideas that they can immediately use to impact their lives and those of their families and friends. This philosophy is the building block of Once Upon A Family, and it carries over as I build this business and my own team of consultants. They dream of the same family moments I do; OUAF creates a bond between us as women in business, as well as within our own homes.”
Once Upon A Family was founded by Lorle Campos and all products are distributed through Independent Consultants. “I am so excited to be part of a company that has impacted so many families,” declared Harvey.
