THE EDCOMM GROUP OFFERS FREE ELDER FINANCIAL ABUSE COMPLIANCE TRAINING FOR WORLD ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS DAY
June 03, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
(NEW YORK, NY) – June 3, 2006In recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15, 2006, The Edcomm Group is offering its Focus on Elder Financial Abuse compliance training program free for one year to banks who sign up on or before June 15.
With more than 5 million cases per year, financial abuse of elders is the number one crime committed against persons age 65 and older. Currently, 17 states and Washington, D.C. have passed laws that require bank personnel to report suspected cases of elder financial abuse. Another 33 states recommend it. The Elder Justice Act of 2003 is undergoing legislation and is expected to pass this year. The Edcomm Group has been a driving force in the campaign to educate bank personnel about elder financial abuse. Edcomm’s course, Focus on Elder Financial Abuse, is designed to help banks cope with the new laws targeting elder financial abuse by teaching front line staff about how to best serve their elderly customers while reducing risk to the bank.
Dr. Linda Eagle, President of The Edcomm Group, said, “Edcomm is proud to give back to the banking community that has been so good to us for 19 years. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day presents the opportunity to also support the growing community of elders in our population.”
Eagle said, “We’re offering Focus on Financial Elder Abuse at no cost to banks who sign up on or before June 15. We’re giving banks the tool to implement the training that teaches their people the magnitude of the problem, the possible red flags to look for and the reporting requirements. In doing so, we are giving every elder, every child of an elder and every individual who cares about an elder, the benefit of financial professionals who look out for them.”
Edcomm extends its offer to provide Focus on Elder Financial Abuse, an eLearning training program, to any bank, free for one year. The offer requires no contract or obligation and includes unlimited access for this program to Learning Link® Edcomm’s Learning Management System.
Focus on Elder Financial Abuse is a comprehensive eLearning program providing training on issues related to elder financial abuse. The course covers: defining elder financial abuse and the laws governing it, detecting the red flags of elder financial abuse, and reporting elder financial abuse properly. Focus on Elder Financial Abuse teaches employees in all bank departments how to identify elder abuse and how to protect both their customers and the bank, with accurate, compliant reporting.
