(New York, NY)— Due to popular demand, glam/punk superband Kevin Cahoon and Ghetto Cowboy will hit the stage for the first time in 7 months, in support of their new CD release, "Doll", on the intimate stage of Joe’s Pub on Sunday, June 25th.
Kevin Cahoon and Ghetto Cowboy have become one of the most buzzed about acts in New York City's downtown music scene, where their unique brand of distorted, gritty glitter rock and occasional doll-throwing antics have earned them a enthusiastic fan base and the guarantee that their performances are, and always will be, more than just an ordinary show. Not just a luminary on rock and roll stages, Kevin has also blessed legions of fans with his rock-star performances in roles like ‘Hedwig’ in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, ‘Ed the Hyena’ in The Lion King, ‘The Childcatcher’ in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and currently, ‘George’ in The Wedding Singer.
On Monday, July 24th Kevin Cahoon and Ghetto Cowboy will be appearing again, this time at The Knitting Factory on the same bill as Lisa Jackson & Girl Friday. Lisa Jackson & Girl Friday are also a refreshing fusion of punk rock energy and arena-rock theatricality. Out to take the country by storm with their speaker-shattering sound, Lisa Jackson & Girl Friday are a band not to be missed.
Kevin Cahoon & Ghetto Cowboy and their CD have chalked up a number of kudos including four nominations at the 2006 OutMusic Awards including, Outstanding Debut Recording-male; Outstanding Music Video, Outstanding CD Graphic Design; and “Doll” as Out Song of the Year. The Onion (NY) and Pabst Blue Ribbon selected KC&GC as band of the week in their “Live and Local” Campaign and Mr. Cahoon received an honorable mention in Billboard Magazine’s World Songwriting Contest. Music from the CD has been heard in some interesting outlets. “Fashionista” was featured on several runways during the last two Fashion Weeks in NYC, it has been played overhead for two months in Urban Outfitter stores nationwide and is currently in the top 50 for Sirius Satellite Radio / OutQ’s Mid-Year Music Survey alongside tunes from such artists as Elton John, Rufus Wainwright and Scissor Sisters, among others.
