Dan Cohen, Vice President of Clearbrook Farms/Cincinnati Preserving Company, in Sharonville, OH, will step down from the NASFT Board after the 52nd Summer Fancy Food Show®, scheduled from July 9 – 11 in New York City. To honor his 18 years of dedication and service, 70 guests gathered for a celebration on May 8, while at the 8th Spring Fancy Food Show®, at the Chicago Symphony Center Club Room, overlooking Lake Michigan and many of the city’s beautiful landmark buildings.

Cohen, long active on the Board of Directors and various committees of the NASFT, was lauded for helping to guide the not-for-profit trade association to become the most highly respected authority on the $34.8-billion specialty food industry. John Roberts, President of the New York-based association, remarks, “Dan has been a leader in the development of many services to help the small businesses that comprise the bulk of our association. We are grateful for the time he took away from his business and his family to help make this happen.” Cohen’s most recent position was as Past Chairman of the Board.

Cohen brought his enthusiasm for education to his posts at the NASFT. In the 1990s, he spearheaded the Member Education Conference and then continued to advance the educational offerings available for both manufacturers and attendees at the Fancy Food Shows and at www.specialtyfood.com. One of the highlights of his tenure was being the first company to sign up for a booth at the inaugural Spring Fancy Food Show in 1998. At the dinner, Cohen was given a personal letter written by Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago thanking him for his help in making the Spring Show a reality and turning Chicago into the third host city of the Fancy Food Shows. He was also presented with an original painting by Indiana-based artist Darren Thompson, portraying Cohen’s likeness on the cover of Specialty Food Magazine, holding a tray with his preserves, a trophy from the Product Awards Competition, and his official NASFT Board of Directors badge.
