Company brings fresh, healthy food to New Zealand school kids

Sydney. May 28th. 2006

A new fresh food and service company is causing a stir in the education market by being the first caterer to actively tackle childhood obesity through the serving of fresh and healthy food to New Zealand school children.

Fresh Express Group Australia has now moved across the Tasman to Christchurch, New Zealand to provide its nutritionally balanced food and menus as "The Healthy Choice" to New Zealand school students.

At present 25% of all school age children in New Zealand are overweight or obese. This staggering statistic is of great concern to the community, schools and parents. Increasingly parents are expecting school principals to assume some responsibility for the foods they are serving to their students and feel they should have access to a range of fresh healthy foods.

Graeme Logan the CEO of Fresh Express Group explains the reason why Fresh Express has already been so well received in New Zealand. "The time is right for a healthy fresh choice in school tuck shop catering. There has been so much focus lately on the rising rate of obesity in New Zealand children, and the attitude that this is a private problem is changing.
