Independent Filmmaking and New Channels of Digital & Entertainment Distribution

Echelon Studios, a production, distribution and foreign sales company forges into the future of film distribution in three exciting new ways. Specializing in the production and sale of independent films, Echelon Studios recently seized a unique opportunity to dramatically broaden its consumer base by opening its film library to new channels of digital media and entertainment distribution. Echelon Studios became the first company to incorporate its library with 1-Net, a subsidiary of MediaCorp Pte Ltd, the most established broadcaster in Singapore. 1-Net will distribute digital content through Singapore and to the rest of the world over Video on Demand (VOD), Theatrical and Wireless platforms. Earlier this year, MediaCorp and 1-Net partnered with Hewlett Packard Singapore and Microsoft Singapore to launch 1-Net’s new service of digital content distribution. Incorporating its library with 1-Net provides Echelon Studios with the opportunity to reach a wider global market because it can now sell its film library through new and novel media channels. Utilizing VOD and wireless will serve to increase its audience base, allowing the public to access Echelon Studio’s films through other forms of medium than television or DVD.
In its pursuit of new distribution channels, Echelon Studios currently exploits Internet distribution possibilities by making its films available to download. Echelon collaborated with Singa Home Entertainment, a home video retail and distribution company that distributes Echelon’s library exclusively, to license a large catalog of Echelon’s films to EZTakes, Inc. EZTakes is the first legal movie download service to provide consumers with the ability to purchase full length movie downloads at nominal cost and easily burn those films to DVD.
Capitalizing on another creative platform to broaden its audience, Echelon Studios, through Singa Home Entertainment, recently provided two of its award winning shorts to Café Shorts, an innovative company that brings home entertainment to the dining out experience. Café Shorts collaborates with both local restaurants and national chains, such as the Italian eatery, Olive Garden, to play film shorts while patrons dine. In the upcoming months, Café Shorts will feature “Late Bloomer,” an Official Selection at the Sundance Film Festival, and “The Paul Decca Story” in its shorts lineup. Beginning in Florida, Café Shorts continues to expand there and grow nationally. Last month alone, it added ten more Olive Garden restaurants to its mounting list of clients in Florida.
Recognizing the opportunity to increase Echelon’s popularity using new content platforms, Echelon Studio’s Vice-President and Co-CEO Gloria Morrison views the opportunity with Café Shorts as, “an exciting possibility for shorts. Shorts have long been unrecognized as an entertainment medium. This new channel of distribution will generate immense exposure for these shorts, their writers, directors and producers, as well as broaden their audience to include individuals who might not normally watch this unique genre of film.”
As a production, domestic distribution and foreign sales company, Echelon Studios handles multiple facets of the entertainment industry. Echelon Studio’s library contains more than 250 first run titles, encompassing a wide variety of genre comprised of comedy, drama, horror, documentary, psychological thriller, family, and animation. Echelon Studios continues to expand its impressive library through the acquisition of a comprehensive body of films including feature films, documentaries and shorts. Through its experienced sales team and by its attendance at national and international film markets, Echelon Studios distributes its acquired films to both domestic and international buyers. In combination with the acquisition and distribution of these films, Echelon Studios theatrically releases films in select cities throughout the United States. In the coming months, Echelon Studios looks to begin production on its own films for theatrical release as well as for television and DVD.
