LumberJocks.com, one of the fastest-growing woodworking sites on the Internet, has just added four new Woodworking Forums that allow do-it-yourself enthusiasts, weekend warriors and professional woodworkers to network and share their ideas. The four forums are:
1. Woodworking Skill Share - A supportive community where LumberJocks can solicit and provide advice on project specs, techniques and challenges
2. Tools, Hardware and Accessories - A valuable resource for woodworkers seeking tips on specific tool brands and models
3. Coffee Lounge - A place to hang out for LumberJocks who need a break from the sawdust and rigors of precision work, where members can share their work philosophies and project highs/lows
4. LumberJocks.com Feedback - A forum that allows woodworkers to connect with peers, with the goal of sharing suggestions, problems and functionality issues
"LumberJocks.com has grown phenomenally since its inception two months ago," says site founder Martin Sojka, who also presides over the successful PowerToolBench.com. "The obvious next step was to create a series of forums where users can connect with each other."
"Our site is dedicated to the artistry of creating beautiful woodwork - from furniture and home accessories to toys, gifts and woodcarvings," he adds. "Users post photos of their completed projects, along with stories that discuss their motivation to create, techniques and challenges. The new forums are a natural extension of the site's mission, permitting users to communicate in ways that bolster their confidence and encourage them to try new ideas."
Free to registered users, LumberJocks.com is unique because of its rating system, which allows members to rate posted projects on a 1-to-10 scale. Users can also submit comments and ask questions about any of the posted projects. At press time, the highest-rated projects included:
- Exquisite Canes made of maple, ebony and walnut, among other woods
- An amazingly detailed Sculpted Box carved from cherry, Bubinga and maple, and then lined with suede
- A black walnut and maple Console inspired by the grace of exotic African antelopes
The most recently posted projects include Native American-Style Functional Art, a Five-Drawer Pine Serving Table and an impressive Prairie Couch.
