Industry experts are calling LipoDissolve ® "the most exciting emergence in cosmetic medicine since Botox." Skin Rejuvenation Clinic of Edina, MN announces the addition of this breakthrough body-sculpting treatment to the clinic's expansive menu. LipoDissolve has been proven to provide significant body contouring results to areas typically hard to target with exercise such as the upper and lower abdomen, thighs, buttocks, upper arms and chin. LipoDissolve is a non-surgical treatment which involves a naturally occurring enzyme solution called phosphatidylcholine deoxycholate, or PCDC, which is administered through a series of micro-injections to permanently dissolve the fat in unwanted areas. PCDC has been used in various medical applications since the 1950s and has been utilized for cosmetic treatments since the mid 90s.
Not to be confused with mesotherapy, which involves injections into the middle layer of the skin, the dermis, LipoDissolve treatments are deeper injections administered directly into the fat. After the injections are given, fat cells are broken down, absorbed and excreted by the body. LipoDissolve is a safe and effective solution, consistently and predictably dissolving fat.
One of the advantages of LipoDissolve is that it provides significantly less downtime than surgical procedures such as liposuction and abdominoplasty. It is also much less costly. Traditionally after a LipoDissolve treatment, there is no requirement for bed rest or reduced activity and most patients resume their normal schedule immediately. The minimal disruption in their daily agenda is the reason most patients find this treatment so ideal.
Dr. Elizabeth Hagberg, co-owner of the Skin Rejuvenation Clinic said that individual results may vary, depending on the amount of fat in the targeted area and differences in each patient's unique body chemistry. "Typically a series of three to six treatments, spaced two or more weeks apart will provide the maximum result," she said. "However it is important to note that some patients have been very happy with the reduction of fat after fewer treatments!"
At Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, this procedure, which takes less than an hour, is administered by a physician. "We make certain that all of our laser procedures and injections are performed by a board-certified physician," said Dr. Hagberg. "It's important that our patients receive a thorough consultation and receive the follow-up care and information needed to make their treatment successful from start to finish."
Dr. Mark Hagberg, co-owner of the clinic explained that LipoDissolve cannot replace dramatic surgical procedures; however on the right body type with small to medium fat deposits, LipoDissolve is a viable alternative to liposuction. "LipoDissolve is ideal when injected into small to medium fat deposits on patients with a soft or fluid-like fatty tissue," he said. He added that the treatments produce unsatisfactory cosmetic results on patients with an obese body type or large volumes of fat. "It's also important to note that LipoDissolve cannot be used as weight loss therapy. It is not to be used as an alternative to a healthy diet or exercise regimen."
