Culver City, CA (May 15, 2006) – Within the inspirational hub of Culver City, Original Trends – an art gallery style shopping experience is in production for its highly anticipated launch date on Saturday, May 20th. Featuring over 50 original designers of clothing(Ana Capri, Alana May, Chiller Clothing, Visceral Clothing, Koterie Inc., Zola), accessories (Beijo Bags, Jophiel Design, Lisa Toland, Canita) and jewelry (Anne Maa Designs, Jester Swink, Lori Lewis Designs, Regine Pfanz), Original Trends is a composite of all the artistic elements. Set against a rainbow backdrop of Ron Reihel paintings inside The Museum of Design Art & Architecture (MODAA, an architectural design firm and artist loft live/work space) from 9:30am-4:30pm, Original Trends will feature: bossa nova style music and VIP ticket holders will be offered complimentary: styling consultations from celebrity stylist Stephanie Faiella coffee and juice, vegetarian catering by Real Food Daily, free valet parking, VIP lounge access, and gift bags worth $150 while supplies last. “Original Trends needed a home where creativity is prevalent and diversity is celebrated,” says Michelle Tung, independent filmmaker and creator of Original Trends. “Culver City offers the perfect backdrop for this production. Those that crave uniqueness in their purchases will find Original Trends to be a pure artistic endeavor – the “anti-mall” of shopping experiences.”
Original Trends opens from 9:30am to 4:30pm at MODAA 8609 Washington Blvd. on Saturday, May 20th. Ticket prices are: $30 for VIP (limited quantity), $3 with RSVP and $5 at the door. Original Trends was created by Michelle Tung, a jewelry designer (owner of Pisces) and film maker (owner of Serenity Productions). After receiving her degree from CSU Northridge, Tung worked as an art director and production designer for several independent films and saw an opportunity to combine her passion for design with her passion for film by developing Original Trends into a multi-artistic showcase.
