EATONTOWN, NJ – Employees of 1-800-Mattress, one of the nation’s leading bedding retailers, are part of the Habitat for Humanity volunteer corps helping to build a new home for a single mother of five children.1-800-Mattress recently opened their newest retail showroom in Eatontown, on the northbound side of Rt. 35, in the vicinity of the new home. Each of the volunteers will work in three-hour shifts building frames and exterior walls for the family.
Once the home is built, 1-800-Mattress plans to make a contribution in the form of mattresses to provide sleeping enhancements to the family, as part of its corporate philanthropy program dedicated to investing in the communities where it does business. “The goal of our mattress donation program is to make a contribution to the communities we serve and provide comfort to organizations and individuals who make our communities better places to live,” said Charlie Prinzivalli, District Manager of 1-800-Mattress.
“It is only natural to be good neighbors and support the people in the community we do business with. When we learned about this family, we wanted to have an opportunity to give back and to help,” continued Prinzivalli, one of the volunteers himself. The 1-800-Mattress Eatontown Showroom II has plans this weekend to kick off a grand opening celebration, with refreshments, an ice cream truck, and a vendor with a large blow-up sheep.
For many years, 1-800-Mattress has invested in the communities where it does business. After 9/11, the company donated more than 300 mattresses to the New York City Fire Department, the company sent a truckload of mattresses to South Florida following the devastation caused by Hurricane Charley, and last year the company arranged for 3,000 temporary air mattresses to alleviate Louisiana and Alabama victims of Hurricane Katrina. It has also provided bedding to domestic violence shelters throughout the tri-state area.
Founded in 1976, 1-800-Mattress is the nation’s leading bedding telemarketing company that enables consumers to purchase a vast array of mattresses, box springs and bedding accessories by phone and the Internet 24/7, or through its 43 retail stores in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland and California.
