Modeling Lets Babies Bring Home the Bacon

Hollywood, CA (April 26, 2006) – Parents who believe they have the cutest tyke in the neighborhood might want to consider getting their infant into the modeling world. Not only does it make the Jones’s next door to you jealous but it can also bring home a nice stream of money on the side.

As everyone knows, nothing sells like a cute baby and directors of magazine ads and TV commercials need babies to sell their products or services. That’s where these little ones come in.

In the industry, baby models are known as “animated props” because they’re not really modeling—they just sit there and look cute. But cute can go a long way in a baby model’s career.

Casting directors will look for other traits too. They prefer babies with even temperaments and long attention spans. Most toddlers cannot sit still for very long so having this trait really gives those babies preference over others.

And if the little one can imitate facial expressions and gestures, they are really in high demand. Photographers and directors love these kinds of infants because it makes it much easier for them to capture an expression.

To get a baby into modeling, an agency will want a snapshot of the child. Headshots, which are the norm for actors and other models, are not wanted in this sector of the industry. The reason being, babies change so fast that it doesn’t make sense to pay lots of money for pictures that will soon be out of date.

If the infant is selected as a model, they can make anywhere from $50-$150 per hour. Television commercials can be even more lucrative but in the U.S. but that kind of work is harder to find and the really big payouts only come for TV ads that play for years.

Things might be different across the pond though. According to Bizzy Kidz www.bizzykidz.com, a modeling agency in the UK, most of the work is of the TV variety. “Roughly 60% of our work is commercial / TV, with the remainder being photographic modeling.”
