The Milwaukee Short Film Festival is seeking submissions for its eighth annual edition. The festival is an award-winning, one-day event June 4, 2006. The final entry deadline is April 22, 2006. "Following the success of last year's festival, our first year screening international films, we are looking forward to receiving even more exciting submissions from an even wider range of filmmakers," says founder Ross Bigley. "We are particularly eager to view the outstanding student and Wisconsin submissions as the festival was initially established to support these filmmakers with a considerable cash prize."
The Milwaukee Short Film Festival grand prize, a $1,000 cash award, recognizes a film that best embodies the spirit of independent filmmaking. The competition is open to short films and videos of all genres including animation. To be eligible for screening, entries must be under 20 minutes in length.
The Milwaukee Short Film Festival is a competitive festival with multiple distinct awards, including recognition for acting, directing and cinematography. A popular Audience Award encourages the crowd to be actively engaged in the screening and festival atmosphere.
