‘Shelly' Award Given To Florida's Top Beach Destinations

Ever wondered which Florida beach destination offers the best nightlife? Or where's the best place to hold a Florida beach wedding? Or how about Florida's top spot for topless – or nude – sunbathing?

The editors of Florida Beaches Guide have made holiday planning a little easier with their annual Golden Shell Awards, which recognize the Sunshine State's most dependable beach vacation destinations.

The Golden Shell Award – better known as the ‘Shelly' – is presented to more than 70 beach destinations in 10 different categories to help travelers identify beaches that best suit their interests.

This year's Shelly winners were evaluated on a wide variety of criteria, including crowd appeal, accommodations, beach fees, local activities, area attractions, nightlife and beach facilities.

Winners are listed in 10 categories that best describe their appeal to visitors – from best nude beaches, best family beaches, best value beaches and even best beaches for Spring Break visitors! Some beaches made this year's Shelly list in more than one category.

Winners of the 2005 Shelly award were chosen by an independent panel of travel experts, who reviewed hundreds of Florida beach destinations and communities.
