Coolcat Report Investment Newsletters Record Strong First-Quarter Gains
April 10, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
CoolcatReport.com investment newsletters continued to shine, registering a strong first-quarter performance in the latest results reported by The Hulbert Financial Digest, the leading investment newsletter industry watchdog. CoolcatReport.com publishes four investment newsletters which help investors identify top-performing stocks. The emailed reports, all of which feature two model portfolios with specific buy and sell suggestions, averaged a solid 8.1% year-to-date gain through the end of March.
Leading the way was one of CoolcatReport.com’s newest publications, The Coolcat Emerging Stock Market Leaders Report. Established in December, the newsletter’s model portfolios surged 13.0% in the first quarter. Pacing the results was a stellar 16.3% return for the newsletter’s Super Small Caps Portfolio, which focuses on stocks with a market capitalization between $200 million- $1 billion. The top holding was Brightpoint (Nasdaq: CELL), which climbed 64.7%.
The Coolcat ETF & Fidelity Select Report jumped 9.7%. The newsletter’s ETF Portfolio rose 13.4%, and its 39.7% return in the past 12 months was more than 12% better than the second-best ETF portfolio tracked by Hulbert. The dramatic outperformance of international ETFs like iShares Brazil Fund (AMEX: EWZ), which is up 95.6% since being added to the portfolio in December 2004, was responsible for most of the gains.
CoolcatReport.com’s flagship investment newsletter, The Coolcat Explosive Small Cap Growth Stock Report, is up 5.3% year-to-date. The newsletter, which discovers explosive microcap stocks, continues to be ranked America’s No. 1 investment newsletter since January 1999 with a 26.7% annualized gain, almost 6% per year better than the second-best investment newsletter.
Another new newsletter, The Coolcat Total Stock Market Report, advanced 4.2% in the first quarter. The newsletter emphasizes dividend-paying blue chip stocks with market values of more than $25 billion and is aimed at more conservative investors.
“Our goal is simply to give investors the tools they need to be successful,” said CoolcatReport.com Publisher Kevin Kennedy.
The Hulbert Financial Digest has tracked the performance of CoolcatReport.com investment newsletter model portfolios since Dec. 31, 1998. Hulbert, which began its highly-regarded investment newsletter tracking service more than 25 years ago, currently rates the performance of more than 150 investment newsletters and uses the Wilshire 5000 index as a benchmark for comparison purposes.
Hulbert began tracking The Coolcat Emerging Stock Market Leaders Report and The Coolcat Total Stock Market Report at the beginning of 2006, and performance data is not yet available for those reports. The performance gains reported above for those two newsletters are from the CoolcatReport.com database, whose quarterly results are within 1% of the findings reported by Hulbert for the two older newsletters.
