The Guitar Festival of Barcelona is one of the appointments that more lovers of the music of quality hoard, thanks to its marked close character and, with no doubt, to the quality of the artists who take part in it. Here the guitar, in all of its varieties, is the protagonist at the same time that it is a demonstration that shows different styles that defend the universal character of this essential instrument since time immemorial.

On this occasion, the meeting will be developed between the 22nd of March and the 7th of June in different stages of the Catalan capital as the Palau de la Música, Bikini and Luz de Gas Club. The Californian Jackson Brown is the person in charge to open a festival with good promises. During its recital, he will share the stage with David Lindley, Kiko Veneno and Luz Casal.

An event of these features could not forget one of the traditions more deeply-rooted in Spain. The versatile guitar player José Mercé will pull of notes from his Flamenco guitar to launch his new work that takes for title What it is not given.

As symbol of the cultural diversity, the Turkish Omar Faruk will delight the attendants with a mixture of western and traditional Turkish sounds.

The brothers and ex members of Radio Futura, Luis and Santiago Auserón, will dare in their last work to interpret the untouchable Beatles, David Bowie, Neil Young, Los Kinks, Bob Dylan and Iggy Pop in a personal way.

The classic guitar will be represented by the soloist Pepe Romero, who will play the Concert of Aranjuez by Joaquín Rodrigo.

Feminine voices

The jazz appears by the hand of the recently awarded singer in the Grammy´s Awards, Dianne Reeves, whereas Shemekia Copeland will be put in charge of raising the stage with his blues marked with soul and electrical rock. Surely, this performance will be one of the most exciting of the festival.

Katia Guerreiro will land in Barcelona from the south of our planet to present the fados of her last record All or Nothing.
