Barry Bonds enjoys an evening with legendary godfather Willie Mays at Mays private opening of Willie Mays Skybox Lounge.

Future Hall of Famer Barry Bonds, and Broadcast Hall of Famer, Lon Simmons shared a table with Willie Mays to celebrate the private opening of Willie Mays Skybox Lounge- Mays first branded sports and entertainment venue located in Emeryville, California. “I am so happy to be a part of something like this” says Mays as he casually speaks to an intimate room of guests.

Mays, Bonds and friends enjoyed an intimate evening of entertainment hosted by Mays longtime friend, Lon Simmons. From the Khalil Shaheed Jazz Quartet to Best Intentions, a Motown tribute band- Mays favorite musical genres were covered. Willie Mays Skybox Lounge Executive Chef, Edward K. Porter unveiled samplings from his ‘bi-coastal cuisine’ menu and also impressed guests with assorted house made desserts.

“ The evening was a tremendous success” says Mindy Kreis, Director of Marketing for Willie Mays Skybox Lounge. “Everybody in attendance felt comfortable and Willie’s excitement was truly engaging.”

Customers of Willie Mays Skybox Lounge can come in and enjoy a game and dinner, stay for Comedy, or relax on a plush couch and watch one of the many oversized televisions. The lounge will also be available for private parties, corporate events, and fundraisers.

Willie Mays Skybox Lounge is expected to open to the public in late April of 2006 and is located in the “Old Brick Building’ at the Emeryville Public Market Place: 6005 Shellmound Street.
