CLERMONT, FL – The National Association of Non Custodial Moms, Inc. (NANCM) will be holding their first national convention at the Summer Bay resort in Clermont, Florida on June 17-18. The purpose of the conference is not only to continue their support of parents without custody but to also educate them on various aspects of custody related issues and the fact that the best parent for a child is both parents, barring any unfitness issues. Some of the topics to be covered include the benefit of working together to co-parent their children, the state of legislation in regards to custody laws, and tips on how to focus their energy on their relationship with their children. The convention is the culmination of a year’s worth of work by NANCM’s Board of Directors, Committees, and members of its discussion board. It is NANCM’s goal that the convention will bring together both mothers and fathers to work alongside one another on the issues they face as non-custodial parents in today’s society and courtrooms. There are at least 20 or more states along with case law that now recognize that shared/equal parenting is in a child’s best interest and NANCM hopes that other states will follow that lead. There will be a “Meet and Greet” session where parents attending the convention can get together in an informal setting and share their experiences. The Meet and Greet will take place before the guest speakers’ presentation.
Speakers at the convention include Annette Pagano, Psy.D. and author of “Journey’s of Women Without Custody”; David Levy, CEO of the Children’s Rights Council; Annie Armen, of the “Annie Armen Live!” internet radio show; Jim Loose, Chairman of the Board of People for Equal Parenting, Inc.; Dr. Kathie Mathis, Psy.D., Domestic Violence Educator and author of many books including “Child Abuse and Neglect Manual for Educators”; and Founder and President of NANCM, Beverly Morris. Annette Pagano will also be holding a special breakfast and book signing on Sunday morning.
The general public is invited and encouraged to attend and ticket prices can be found on the organization’s website. Door prizes will be given out, and various fundraising and merchandise sales to raise monies to fund NANCM outreach programs will be held. All donations towards NANCM are tax-deductible to the contributor. Seating is limited and reservations are required.
