“There is an international awakening to the indisputably finite capacities of all countries to handle plastic waste,” says Rowe, a former actress turned marketing entrepreneur. Countries that have banned or taken action to significantly discourage the use of plastic bags include Australia, Bangladesh, Ireland, Italy, South Africa, Taiwan and Mumbai. The city of San Francisco has also proposed a tax on plastic bags.
The company’s product line is highly attractive to companies who chose to put their logos and labels on high quality organic and cotton bags. The ECOBags line has now been extended to include organic cotton towels under the ECOWeave™ label, and the company is poised to introduce an organic cotton string bag in bright colors.
