AVIcode announces Intercept Studio Version 2.3 with Advanced Security Features

December 30, 2004 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
AVIcode, an independent vendor of application fault-management software, announces its latest release of Intercept Studio featuring advanced, 4-layer security. According to Richard Mogul, Senior Analyst at Gartner, "Gartner estimates that more than 70% of unauthorized access to information systems is committed by employees, as are more than 95% of intrusions that result in significant financial losses." Intercept Studio now protects data from both inside and outside infiltration with this 4-layer approach:

Level 1 leverages your choice of native Windows security or Intercept's own proprietary security model to protect your event data from intruders outside of your company's user base. Users created in the system are assigned roles as either administrators or power users, and are required to authenticate into the system before viewing any application events.

Level 2 uses SSL to encryption-protect data in events sent from the exception and performance agents to the Structured Event Viewer.

Level 3 allows partitioning event data by users. Administrators can group all components (such as ASP.NET pages, web services, etc) that make up an enterprise application under a single application name, and then restrict users by which application names they can access. This feature allows datacenters to permit multiple user groups to access a single Structured Event Viewer Server without seeing the each other's data, developers and operations personnel to focus on their specific tasks, and end users to not worry that their data might fall into the wrong hands.

Level 4 allows administrators to completely disable monitoring for specific components or functions which may contain sensitive data. This final security level guarantees that you customers' data will fall prey to misuse.

Other new features for Intercept Studio version 2.3 include :

Extended application-monitoring support for .NET WinForms, Windows Service Applications written in .NET and Console Applications written in .NET.

Users-defined custom error handlers for critical exceptions, which provide tighter integration with existing exception handling instrumentation

Improved usability features which support selecting handled vs. unhandled exception monitoring, configuring subscribers and testing server connectivity all from the Intercept Management Console

About Intercept Studio :

Intercept Studio allows organizations to monitor their live, deployed applications for slowdowns, faults and failures and immediately pinpoint the source of the problem. Intercept collects complete information about the error to include call stack, object state, and functional parameters without the need for time-consuming code modifications. It also collects detailed information about web applications or web service application performance bottlenecks with complete call stack and resource specific information like execution times for embedded SQL queries, LDAP queries, web services requests, calls to TCP/IP services, etc.

About AVIcode :

AVIcode, a software development company, produces application fault management software. AVIcode's products are designed to protect software investments by simplifying application maintenance and troubleshooting, dramatically reducing defect resolution time. AVIcode's flagship product, Intercept Studio, detects crashes and performance degradations of production applications running on the Microsoft .NET Framework.
