Park’s love of the fashion industry led him to create a high-end premium denim and sportswear collection, and in early 2006 tapped Danenberg as designer. The contemporary sportswear and denim collection will bow at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Design Suites on March 21st and at the Brighte Show on March 24th. An intelligent approach to sporty dressing, Three Girls Running design direction integrates Rebecca’s affinity for downtown New York with her newfound California lifestyle. As a result, the collection is a uniform for American women, staples that transcend demographics, work on both coasts and everywhere in between. Park explains, “My vision, based on our company’s success in the women’s contemporary market is the perfect fit for the Danenberg’s design aesthetic and cult following. We are thrilled to embark on this new endeavor together.”
Classic Danenberg shapes — sexily tailored and fitted with an undeniable edginess — can be seen throughout the collection. Geared to women in their 20’s to 40’s, Three Girls Running is femme fatale meets girlie meets easy dressing. The clothes exude a smart Ivy League spirit, the mystery of classic film noir and the street style of New York’s East Village. It is an attitude and style unique to Danenberg and her years of experience. She explains, “Designing my own collection, working for 7 for all Mankind, and living in both New York and Los Angeles has been eye opening. Over the past four years I have been waiting for the right opportunity and Offline presented it!” In a nod to Hollywood, denim washes will be named for the moods of famous directors. Polanski is a dark stretch in medium weight, Fellini is a light blue non-stretch inspired denim, Ridley Scott is light blue medium weight 80’s inspired denim and Bertolucci is dark blue rigid non-stretch denim. The washes are vintage inspired and the jeans are tailored and clean unlike anything in the existing market. Luxury tees spoofing movie posters by these legends work back to the jeans.
Three Girls Running designs can be mixed, matched or worn on their own. For example, a three-piece suit in corduroy work perfectly with semi sheer jersey blouses. The collection will offer pants in many styles: mod with wide legs, sexy with super skinny legs and psycho preppy riding pants. Shirred jersey t-shirts and merino wool tops are lingerie inspired and meant to be worn as layers. Shapes will include a long sleeve v-neck with satin piping, short sleeve crews with drawstring neck, long tank top with pleats. This seasons colors are cool takes on traditional tones of navy, burgundy, khaki, black and green. Fabrics include denims from Italy and Japan, and European wovens. Retail price points range from t-shirt $48 to $145 for a basic jean to $300 for a corduroy blazer.
In 2002 Offline, Inc was founded by Charles Park who had previously spent 15 years in the apparel industry developing specialty chemicals for the denim industry through his company Industrial CholChem, Inc. That same year, he launched Sugar Lips, a young contemporary collection, and Inspira, a contemporary women’s collection. After seven years of designing her namesake collection and in the wake of September 11th, Rebecca Danenberg uprooted her family and left New York City for the West Coast. She spent the past four years in Los Angeles as head women’s designer for 7 for All Mankind jeans.
