DATELINE: NEWTON, MASS… Rodman & Rodman, P.C., providers of accounting, tax and business services to small and medium-sized companies throughout New England, have recently announced they are adding Microsoft Small Business Accounting to their suite of accounting applications. Rodman & Rodman is based in Newton, Mass.
Rodman and Rodman will add Microsoft Small Business Accounting software to their suite of accounting software programs which includes QuickBooks and Peachtree.
Kathy Parker, CPA at Rodman & Rodman, recently attended the fifth annual QuickBooks and Microsoft Office SBA 2006 Accounting and Tax Update Conference, which is the premier conference for professional accountants serving small business. Held in Salt Lake City, the conference is hosted by the independent consulting firm, Bybee Consulting LLC.
According to Ms. Parker, “It was interesting to see the products side by side. Microsoft Small Business Accounting solutions should become a big player in the small business market, but their product needs some enhancement and they are working on it. QuickBooks has been around for quite some time and is more up to speed, but does not come as part of a preloaded software package, as will be the case with Microsoft SBA.”
Ms. Parker, along with two others on Rodman’s team, Robert Leonard and Bonnie Stockdell, are Certified Pro Advisors for QuickBooks and Peachtree and will become Certified Microsoft SBA Pro Advisors when Microsoft rolls out their official exam and training program in the upcoming months.
“Both products are good. When selecting an accounting software package, we assist clients in determining which would better suit their accounting needs – Peachtree, QuickBooks or Microsoft SBA. In addition to the Microsoft program, we intend to move forward into the higher QuickBooks Enterprise edition.”
Rodman & Rodman also provides software training to company employees. Offering training classes at their Newton office, Rodman instructs a company’s employees in QuickBooks, Peachtree and in near the future, Microsoft SBA software. Classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The QuickBooks session is offered every four to eight weeks and Peachtree session is offered twice a year. One-on-one, on-site employee training is also available year round.
For more information about these software programs or to enroll employees for a software training session, contact Kathy Parker, CPA, Certified Pro-Advisor and coordinator of training at (617) 965-5959.
