W3com.com Inc. and St. Paul’s L’Amoreaux Centre are currently working together to provide expertise computer training for the community. The trainings are offered bilingually, in English or Chinese, and are offered to the Greater Toronto Area including Scarborough, Richmond Hill, Markham, and North York. Skilled instructors with over 20 years of experience, present students with effective verbal/written instructions, and hands-on experience through the most up to date computer skill and technology. In addition, all students are assigned to a designated computer to ensure a fun, productive, and professional learning experience.The training courses have been carefully planned and designed so that people can learn computers based on their field of interest as well as their level in computers. Under the beginner’s division, there is an introductory course with intentions to train users the basic functions in Microsoft Windows, and to handle some simple documents. The introductory Internet course will train students to use the Internet with a variety of Internet Browsers.
As students become more familiar with computers, they proceed into more intermediate computer trainings. The students will learn to utilize the newest applications and data used in today’s online communication system, such as the E-mail, Online Instant Messengers (Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger), the use of search engines (Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc.) to find the most current news, weather, map, traffic, auctions, and online shopping for merchandises such as airplane tickets.
There are also advanced training courses that will draw attention for users with richer computer background. These courses will enhance users the in-depth knowledge of computers through its major applications and functions such as online Voice/Video chat rooms, creating simple personal websites, sharing photos, downloading using major peer-to-peer file sharing applications such as BitTorrent, transferring digital photos from the digital camera to the computer, simple editing of photos, storing photos onto a CD or DVD, and as well as inputting Chinese characters.
Each course will total 6 hours in 4 classes. The class times are from 9:15 am to 4:15 pm and registration is on a first come first serve basis. Spaces are limited to 8 students a class.
