New Superhero Sells OutZoom Suit #1 Will Be Allocated
Orders on the April 26th release of Zoom Suit #1 more than doubled order estimates and tripled the expectation of the publisher. The comic will be allocated to direct market comic shops at 90% of initial orders.
Unlike other comics Zoom Suit #1 was not printed to order. The comic was printed in a collaboration with a printer, technology provider, paper manufacturer and ink manufacturer. The partnership led to incredible production values including super high resolution staccato printing, millions of metallic colors from cover to cover, heavy cardstock covers and a full varnish. All these features are brought to fans without any increase in cover price.
"I approached the potential trade partners with the concept of creating a super high end comic and they loved the idea", said Zoom Suit Creator John Taddeo. "They needed to know how much it would cost though, and that required setting the print run. We printed triple what I thought fans and retailers would order, plus extras for conventions and film festivals. It turned out we we're way off and we don't have nearly enough."
Zoom Suit #1 will be allocated. Comic shops can expect to receive 90% of their original orders. Fans are urged to check with their comic shop and reserve a copy early.
"Taking zero for film festivals and kicking in all our convention copies were going to be able to fill 90% of orders. We'll basically be left with nothing”, said Taddeo.
ZOOM SUIT #1 features a story by John Taddeo, with covers by Bill Tucci, Billy Dallas Patton, and Bob Layton. The Interior is by Billy Dallas Patton. Retailers also received a total of five (5) variant editions including covers by Layton, Bart Sears, Gene Colan, Jim Starlin and the TEAM ZOOM edition by Billy Tucci.
"It's great to be involved in a project that's been getting so much atention", said Billy Dallas Patton Zoom Suit penciler. "When John and I set out to make a comic book we agreed it would be tremendous if we could sell 5,000 copies. Orders exceeded 20,000 copies! The demand and eager anticipation is great. It really makes the hard work worthwhile".
The ZOOM SUIT #1 (FEB063259) is scheduled to arrive in stores on April 26th with a cover price of just $2.95 U.S. Since the book is printed, delivery is guaranteed on or before that date. Fans should note that since quantities will be extremely limited, many shops may sell out quickly. Preorders are recommended.
ZOOM SUIT #2 (Mar06 ) is currently available in PREVIEWS under the publisher SUPERVERSE.
