Kerri Barna has been an elementary teacher for thirty years. She loves teaching and helping her students see the importance of self-confidence, kindness, and community found in their classroom.

Barna is a partner to a wonderful man who has supported her throughout this process. She is also a mom of two beautiful girls. Barna's daughters have been her biggest supporters, reading hundreds of drafts and listening to thousands of ideas while always remaining patient and helpful.

Barna had always dreamt of writing a book that would allow her to positively impact children who are not her own or her students. "Shimmer's Star Search" has allowed her to do just that.
