Dr. James L. Geiger, MD MS CCAP, the anesthesiologist and clinical aromatherapy practitioner who uses essential oils to prevent post-anesthesia nausea and its complications, will be available for clinical aromatherapy consultations at the Expo West Natural Products Show, Anaheim Convention Center, Sedona Labs Booth 1814, March 24-26 2006.Geiger practices acute care anesthesia and clinical aromatherapy as staff for several medical centers, orthopedic hospitals and surgicenters in Arizona. Finding that the proper distillation and application of the essential oil of ginger, Zingiber officinale can prevent post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and produce substantial benefits for both patients and medical facilities, he has developed a unique line of essential oils addressing additional health care issues.
“Preventing PONV in most of my patients has resulted in improved clinical schedule maintenance, increased patient satisfaction and reduced costs, as “same day” surgery patients really can go home the same day while avoiding the problematic risks and expense of anti-nausea drugs,” Geiger said. “When I saw the astonishing difference that essential oils were making for my anesthesia patients year in and year out, I decided to dedicate the rest of my life’s journey to benefiting others with aromatherapy and developed the oilMD product line,” he said.
Essential oils come from aromatic plants and have been used as health enhancements for more than 6,000 years. Clinical aromatherapy is the art and science of understanding healthcare needs and which essential oils may help fulfill them.
“Knowing that essential oils can provide therapeutic benefits for a vast array of health issues, I’ve formulated a unique line of safe, premixed, preservative-free therapeutic grade essential oil blends that can be seen for the first time at the Expo West Natural Products Show,” Geiger said. “This is my flagship line and it’s for a specific range of women’s health and fitness issues. I’ve made it ultraviolet safe so the oils can be worn safely in sunlight; and estrogen receptor safe so it can benefit women at risk for estrogen stimulating oils,” he said.
