This has been the year of extreme change in the entertainment industry. With the advent of new camera technology and a growing presence of independent producers the movie business has experienced a major correction. Forget the big mulit-million dollar budgets and over-compensated actors when these hungry film producers are putting out the most intriguing content available on the market. One of the producers that has had his named dropped by the biggest players is Derek Jaeger of Cartel Entertainment. The whispers and unknowing presence of his future projects has got the big boys talking.Over the last two years this early 30’s film producer has opened the eyes of his audience with his “run and gun” films. “I capture the everyday moments that most of us take for granted. I put myself out in the mix where most people lock their car doors and keep their eyes straight ahead.” Some of his features include gangsters, fights, and other real life situations that news stations report on everyday. “When it goes down, I am shooting from the sidelines. With my years of street knowledge and strong connections with the underworld crowd I get the hall pass that most people would dream of having.” Derek takes some of the darker images and connects them with the right music and mixes in some eye candy for a product that keeps the viewer intrigued from start to finish.
“Providing real-life violence with a sexy edge, any-man in his late teens on up can enjoy with the boys.” Jaeger has tapped another niche market that most producers would stay away from. “I give my audience something to live for. Most members of the populist grind out their mundane jobs then go home to an unappreciated spouse and screaming kids. They can escape this with a stiff drink, some narcotic, or pop in one my flicks with some homies and take that ride that doesn’t require them to risk anything.”
The marketplace is just getting savvy on the demand for movies that Derek Jaeger and Cartel Entertainment have been putting out. This year saw some great response at the film festivals with titles such as, “The Real OC I, The Real OC II, Partylife, and Springbreakdown.” Ironically, these are all titles that Cartel Entertainment is responsible for delivering. The Real OC took home awards for Best Lifestyle Film, Best Music Compilation, and an Honors Award in Cinematography. Partylife walked away with the covenant award for the best captured Real Life Drama. And Springbreakdown grabbed an award for Audience Approval.
“As my titles get out into the masses be prepared for a re-birth of no-name talent climbing up the Hollywood ladder without the wine and dine networking that so many good people get lost in. I look forward to giving the people the reality in movie making with the feel of a sharpen knife. Be on the lookout for more life-core titles with a strong presence of skin throughout 2006 into 2007.”
