Wine School Offers New Mission Statement

The Wine School is asking its students and supporters what the future of wine education should look like. “The school’s national and regional stature is growing very quickly,” says school director Keith Wallace, “and we needed a way to both communicate our values but also get input from our students”“The first objective was to craft a mission statement that left no question as to what our viewpoints are,” says Keith. “it is a fusion of ideas from some of the smartest people in wine education, and I am proud of being involved.” The next step for the school is to open up a conversation with its students. “We need to know if people come to the school for the same reason we teach at the school. We need to know if there is a shared value system there.”
If the mission statement is embraced by the student body, it will be used as a founding document as the school restructures into a national nonprofit agency based in Philadelphia. “Its time to make sure we don’t get too big for our britches, we need to make sure that we are held accountable” says Keith.
