IECA Contest Winner Donates $250 Prize to Scholarship Fund

Shirley Morrow, CPESC, winner of IECA’s 2005 Member Get A Member contest, has donated her $250 prize to the Thrill of Achievement scholarship fund. The fund is used to bring students from around the world to the annual IECA conference and expo. Scholarships cover transportation to and from the conference, a 2-day conference registration, hotel accommodations, a stipend for food, and a one-year IECA student membership.Morrow, Manager of Stormwater Compliance for Wal-Mart, says “I donated the money because you learn at Wal-Mart – it’s the right thing to do.”

Over 60 members participated in the 2005 Member Get A Member contest. “Word of mouth is one of the main ways we recruit new members, so the Member Get A Member campaign is a crucial part of IECA’s annual membership drive. I think our members understand that our strength is in our numbers—more members means more resources and knowledge for everyone,” explains Ben Northcutt, IECA Executive Director.
