Stepping Out to Help Postnatal Illness
March 06, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Health News
40% of mothers suffer some form of postnatal illness. The PNI-UK charity is a vital contact for these women and their families. Now, anyone going to the new production of Stepping Out can help support PNI-UK when they buy a ticket (http://www.pni-uk.com/fundraising.html).The New Penny Theatre Company, who are performing the comedy, and PNI-UK share a patron in Fern Britton, the Good Morning ITV Presenter. Fern was affected by postnatal depression after the birth of her daughter, Grace. "I have personal experience of the devastating effects postnatal illness has on new mothers and their families" says Fern.
You can see Stepping Out at the Elgiva Theatre, Chesham, Bucks, 21-25 March 2006. Book with the theatre directly by telephoning 01494 582900 and quoting "PNISHA". Tickets are £14.00, of which £3.00 goes straight back to PNI-UK.
"We are absolutely delighted to have been offered this opportunity by the New Penny Theatre," say Deborah Morgan-Graham, the Chairman of PNI-UK. "Postnatal Illness is the largest single cause of Maternal Death in the UK. The statutory care for women affected is often very poor and there is a widespread lack of understanding about the illness and its devastating effects. The work PNI-UK undertakes to support these women and their families is critical and we are very grateful to The New Penny Theatre, the sole 'sister-patronee' of our wonderful Patron, Fern Britton."
PNI-UK was previously known as the PostNatal Illness - Support & Help Association (PNi-SHA).
