Bluebeards Original Launches Anti-Itch Beard Product

For Paul Kaniewski, a Philadelphia native now living in Pittsburgh, the deep itch struck during a stressful period as a first-year graduate student. “I had made the decision not to shave until the end of finals, but the itch was nearly unbearable, and the ingrown hairs along my jaw were extremely painful. I knew that I couldn’t be the only man out there who had this problem.” So he looked for a product that could take care of his discomfort, searching drug stores, department stores and the internet for a remedy. The only problem—there weren’t any products for the itchy scruff. So Paul Kaniewski started the quest for the perfect beard cream.

And Bluebeards Original was born. “It took a really long time to find the right manufacturer who could understand what I was trying to do and how I wanted it done.” How he wanted it done was naturally, with no unnatural dyes or fragrances, no skin irritants, and no animal testing. “I knew I could cut corners and get a product out much more quickly and cheaply. The packaging is bold and fun, and what most customers first notice—a jolly roger, complete with grinning skull and a bright blue beard. “We took a risk with the logo” Paul Kaniewski acknowledges. “It’s not your typical men’s care look. But then again, we’re not your typical men’s care company.”
