DGCA Kuwait Certifies Ubitech's AMHS Technology

Ubitech is proud to announce the outstanding results of its AMHS trials in Kuwait that have culminated in DGCA Kuwait certifying Ubitech's AMHS technology. Although AMHS trials have been conducted elsewhere within closed environments under experimental conditions, it is believed that these AMHS interoperability trials are unique, because live data from an operational AFTN system was used in each test. This represents an important event for Ubitech, but is equally significant to DGCA Kuwait who prides itself on being at the forefront of civil aviation systems and technology. Kuwait is now the first Civil Aviation Authority in the GCC region to have conducted live AMHS trials and is in fact one of the very few countries in the world to have done so. The success of these trials has given DGCA Kuwait a high level of confidence regarding the ease of migrating its AFTN environment to AMHS in the near future.
"Here in Kuwait we set a high standard of excellence which is why we decided to use live data from our operational AFTN system," says Salah Al Khoder, Director of the Navigation Equipment Division, " Under real-life conditions, Ubitech"s AMHS performed above our expectations and at no time did we experience any interruption to our normal AFTN operations. We feel quite confident that Ubitech can enable us to reach our ambition of AMHS/ATN in the near future."
Ubitech performed the AMHS trials at the Kuwait International Airport with four specific objectives:
1.. User Agent establishment and connectivity
2. AMHS Gateway interoperability
3. Capacity and performance of the AMHS System
4. Stability of the existing AFTN system during the trials
DGCA Kuwait’s knowledgeable AFTN staff were extremely cooperative and professional and made a significant contribution to the overall success of the trials. In addition, Kuwait’s AFTN system is one of the most advanced messaging systems in the world, and is also well maintained, which allowed for a simple configuration to support the AMHS components. Upon completion of the trials and with all the objectives successfully met, DGCA Kuwait certified the official report. Plans are now being made for further AMHS trials to be conducted in Kuwait later in 2006.
