Mission Specialist Stephen K. Robinson and Dr. Vijay Singh to Speak at ILC Dover’s Annual State of the Company AddressILC Dover, designer and manufacturer of all of NASA’s spacesuits since project Apollo, announced that Mission Specialist Stephen K. Robinson, Ph.D., NASA Astronaut, and Dr. Vijay Singh, Wave-Biotech founder, will join the company’s President, William Wallach, in addressing employees at the annual state of the company presentation. “We are honored to have these distinguished guests speak on two important focus areas for ILC,” stated Mr. Wallach.
Mission Specialist Robinson started working for NASA in 1975 and was on the most recent Discovery Mission in August 2005. In a transmission from space to NASA, Robinson expressed his thanks to ILC Dover for his “perfect” suit and gloves and his appreciation for “all the work and careful, careful attention to detail that went into making these things.” Dr. Robinson has logged over 830 hours in space and over 20 EVA hours. He will discuss his recent mission and future NASA goals that may present opportunities for ILC.
Dr. Singh is a recognized biotechnology authority on large-scale cell culture and fluid mixing. He is author of many technical papers and holder of several US patents and has been involved with the design and operation of bioreactors since 1980. He pioneered the concept of wave-induced agitation for fluid mixing and oxygenation in inflated plastic bags.
ILC currently sells a full line of flexible powder containment products to the pharmaceutical industry, and is partnering with Wave Biotech to develop and sell advanced processing systems to the rapidly growing biotechnology market. FlexMixer® is our first joint product offering. Dr. Singh will discuss the present and emerging opportunities for disposables in the biotechnology arena.
