About the Author
Swapan Chakrabarti came to the United States about forty years ago as a graduate student. He is now a retired faculty member. As a graduate student, he shared his room in the dorm and in the apartments with American graduate students. As a faculty member, he has worked with a very large number of American and foreign students as advisor and instructor. Thus, he has developed a good understanding of the artificial barriers between multiple cultures. He likes to promote understanding among the younger generation so that they can reap the benefits of multicultural cultures and live with an enriched understanding of humankind. The author wants to promote friendship between American students and the foreign students from all over the world with the deepest possible compassion. He thinks that friendship is the true flagship for spreading long lasting democratic values throughout the world.
