PROMT became the first Certified Translation Partner of SAP in Russia

St.-Petersburg, Russia - February 20, 2006 - PROMT (www.e-promt.com) announced today that its Translation Department has been certified as a SAP Translation Partner.
Cooperation of PROMT Translation Department and SAP Language Services began in 2000 within the framework of the first pilot project that included translation of training courses on SAP R/3 system modules from English into Russian. The pilot project implied translation not only with TRADOS Translation Memory (that had already been used by SLS), but also by means of the PROMT machine translation system, customized specifically for this project. Customization of the system (creation of over 30 specialized dictionaries on different applications, machine translation quality testing and so forth) was carried out by experts of SLS and the PROMT Translation Department, who worked in close cooperation.

From the very first project, it became obvious that integration of customized PROMT MT and TRADOS TM systems produces excellent results: increase of translators' performance, instant processing of texts with extensive formatting and complicated structure, consistent use of customer terminology by all translators in the project group.

Within the period from 2000 to 2005, the PROMT Translation Department made English-Russian translation of about 100.000 pages. Moreover, in 2004 the Department has launched online translation from German into Russian of SAP systems interface and help documentation (localization activities conducted in real time).

In 2005, it was announced about upcoming certification procedure for SAP translation partners in order to optimize cooperation with translation service providers and verify compliance of their technological and resource management processes to SAP Language Services requirements. According to the score, which combined results of previous projects and those of the audit, the PROMT Translation Department has been granted the status of Certified SAP Translation Partner for German/English – Russian language combinations.
