Dr Andrea Ubhi Announces Cosmetic Dentristry Training Program

Dr Andrea Ubhi ( http://www.andreaubhi.com ), who was awarded the accolade of Dentist of the Year 2005 by The Probe awards last year for her work in dentistry, felt it was time to help others learn how to provide the type of dentistry that the UK is asking for.

‘Everyone I speak to is very interested in having cosmetic dentistry, and I am delighted to be able to help dentists learn the skills they need to be effective at providing the right treatment for each patient. Cosmetic dentistry is all about being able to assess with the patient what type of treatment would be best for the smile they are wanting to achieve, balanced with the health of their teeth. Communication with patients is critical. Every patient needs to know all the benefits, and all the risk factors involved in each procedure before being able to make an informed choice about treatments. At my practice, we can provide all types of treatments, from the simple replacement of amalgam fillings, right through to full smile makeovers involving porcelain laminate veneers,’ she said.

After a series of lectures covering the technical aspects, Dr Ubhi will supervise the dentists on the training program as they provide treatments for the patients at her practice in York.

‘Every dentist on the course is a fully qualified dentist, with a wish to learn more about cosmetic dentistry, so they can return to their practices and provide high-quality cosmetic dentistry for their patients,’ she said.

Patients will be able to choose whether to see Dr Ubhi and her team for treatments, or elect to see the dentists on the training programme.

The treatments will be the same, with the same methods, materials and laboratories used to create the porcelain veneers, but the cost to the patients will be reduced for the training program dentists.

‘I believe the training program will only improve the availability to the patient of cosmetic dentistry,’ said Dr Ubhi.
