FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEAttention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder – New Research Published!
The Routledge journal International Journal of Disability, Development and Education is publishing new research carried out by the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. The research aims to determine the gender differences in neuropsychological functioning of males and females with or without Attention Deficity Hyperactivity Disorder.
The majority of the literature to date has been focused mainly on boys with ADHD. Julia J. Rucklidge of the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, NZ highlights the limited studies with girls. She is one of the few researchers working with adolescent girls with ADHD and as most of the focus has previously been on boys, the generalisation of research findings has to date been restricted.
Importantly, the findings of this study provide support for recent research which demonstrates that females with ADHD also present with impaired neurocognitive functioning.
The complete article can be read in the Special Issue of the journal which will be published in late February 2006. For more information go to www.tandf.co.uk/journals
