Ed McGuire Awarded Power Purses' 2018 Trailblazer Award

At the 6th Annual Powerful Purses Luncheon Event & Silent Auction Ed McGuire, President of Bob Moore Construction, was named the 2018 Trailblazer. The award is given in order "to pay tribute to phenomenal men who have brought exceptional support and talent to benefit Powerful Purses." Powerful Purses, Inc., a charity founded by Cynthia Bailey and Barbara Fife, exists to support education and women in local communities.

In addition to the Trailblazer, the Powerful Purses also honored 2018 Extraordinary Woman B. Diane Butler, co-founder and previous Executive Chairman and CEO of Butler Burgher Group (BBG), and awarded the Cynthia R. Bailey Dress for Success Scholarship to local young ladies in pursuit of a college degree.

The luncheon and silent auction program was attended by Mayor Betsy Price, who was seated with specially invited high school honor students at a table donated by Bob Moore Construction. Guests were honored to have a distinguished panel, moderated by NBC 5 anchor Deborah Ferguson, which included Beth Lambert the Executive Managing Director of Cushman Wakefield, Shara McClure the Divisional Senior Vice President of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, and Kathy Whitworth LPGA Professional and member of the World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine, Florida. Each member of the panel discussed the challenges and obstacles they had to overcome to become leaders in their respective fields.

Mr. McGuire, only the second recipient, was presented the Trailblazer Award by Powerful purses co-founder Barbara Fife. During his acceptance, Mr. McGuire challenged the scholarship recipients to "Excel by using their education as no one can take their education away." Winners of the Trailblazer Award "possess the core values of the organization. Their individual leadership accomplishments will reinforce their commitment to philanthropic endeavors and to supporting women, education, and improving our communities."
