Orlando-based law firm Fisher Rushmer, P.A. congratulates six (6) of its attorneys who have been chosen to receive the Inaugural Ninth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Merit Award. The award recognizes attorneys who have shown a commitment to their local community by providing significant pro bono legal assistance to people who could not otherwise afford legal counsel. The Fisher Rushmer attorneys who were chosen to receive the Inaugural Ninth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Merit Award are Joseph L. Amos, Jr., Chris Ballentine, Eric R. Elms, David R. McFarlin, Elizabeth Collins Plummer, and C. Gene Shipley.
Joe Amos, a Shareholder of Fisher Rushmer, focuses his practice on bad faith claims and insurance disputes, professional and product liability, personal injury, catastrophic loss, business litigation and mediation/dispute resolution.
Chris Ballentine, a Shareholder with the firm, concentrates on insurance coverage litigation relating to professional and general liability policies.
Eric Elms, an Associate at Fisher Rushmer, practices primarily in the areas of personal injury, insurance defense and employment litigation.
David McFarlin, Of Counsel with the firm, represents debtors, creditors, trustees and committees in bankruptcy cases.
Elizabeth Collins Plummer, an Associate with Fisher Rushmer, focuses her practice on the defense of civil litigation matters including personal injury, wrongful death, civil rights violations, premises liability and housing discrimination.
Gene Shipley, Of Counsel with the firm, devotes his practice to representing business clients in commercial litigation matters.
The Ninth Circuit's Pro Bono Program started in 1993 and has grown from 12 cases per year to approximately 160 cases per year. The success of the program is dependent upon the attorney's and law schools who volunteer their time and expertise to help provide counsel to pro se parties with meritorious or complex appeals.
"We are proud of our attorneys and their commitment to helping those less fortunate in our community," stated Joe Amos, Shareholder of Fisher Rushmer. "It's an honor and privilege to work with attorneys who care enough to help those in need with a variety of legal issues including housing, child custody issues and children's rights."
The awards ceremony will be held on October 20, 2017 at the Orange County Courthouse.
